About Isabelle

Isabelle Harman is a mother, 30-year military spouse, and community leader – not a politician!

Isabelle Harman is an Independent candidate for Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District whose life story is rooted in service, resilience, and unity. A former Army soldier and veteran Army spouse, she has spent more than 30 years serving alongside military families in both peace and war. Isabelle’s personal mission to alleviate suffering in all its forms guides her work as a writer, publisher, and community advocate. Her upbringing, shaped by a French mother who survived World War II and an American father who is a WWII and Korean War veteran, instilled in her a deep appreciation for sacrifice, perseverance, and the promise of the United States.

Isabelle is not a career politician and is not duty-bound to a political party. She is led by her unwavering commitment to the people she seeks to represent. She believes the solutions to our nation’s challenges lie in the hands of local communities and that the government must be held accountable to those it serves. With a career spanning military service, volunteer leadership, and entrepreneurship, Isabelle brings a rare combination of lived experience, compassion, determination, and a choice for your representative in Congress.

Isabelle’s candidacy is built on a simple but powerful proposition: it is WE & US who will shape an accountable, respectful, compassionate, and thriving future for Pennsylvania’s 10th District.

Isabelle's Mission

My personal mission is to alleviate suffering in all its forms as it is presented to me. My guiding principle is unity.

THIS IS NOT AN IMPULSE DECISION

My over 30 years of service with the Army, first as a soldier and finishing as an Army spouse, have given me experiences I would not change. I have met dynamic people, lived in towns from one coast of the lower 48 to the other, and even spent a few years in Italy. This has given me insight into the strength, compassion, determination, and resilience of human beings. It is with this insight and belief in the human spirit that I approach this journey I am on - service, benevolence, respect, determination, adaptability, and partnership.

A LIFE OF SERVICE

I have kept myself aware of community needs and concerns at the installations where we lived and the communities surrounding the post. I have always known I would eventually enter politics. Our moves and deployments left little room for this endeavor. Today, I reach back to my Midwest roots, my experience while we served our country, and, now in Central Pennsylvania, the reasons we embrace the community we call home.

I am not immune to the needs of others. For me, this started as a child when I would have to serve as an interpreter for my mother, who is French and speaks English fluently. We had to endure the nuanced ways people can devalue another person. My mother is my hero and role model. She persisted in the face of adversity. She returned to school, earned her PhD, and is a retired educator. Throughout her career, which included private schools and inner-city public schools, she always insisted her students rise to her standards and expectations.

The value of having standards and insisting others rise to our expectations is what I will bring to the Representative’s office for Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District. I insisted throughout my adult life that the people I led in our Army volunteer organizations maintain personal standards, rise to the expectations we had to help our military families, and care for our soldiers’ families with respect and compassion. This is my foundation.

IT'S ABOUT THE ECONOMY

There are three areas of need I have recognized while living in Pennsylvania. Each affects the soul of the people in the 10th District and creates opportunities to work together to develop solutions to ensure all levels of government understand what the people want and need to thrive.

Agriculture:Our farmers literally provide the sustenance we need to survive. We must back our farmers, big and small, so that they know they are the pride of our industries. We want generational farming to be a viable choice for their children. We want our farmers out of debt. Finally, we do not want our farmers to feel the pressure to sell portions of their land to developers.

Education:Our children need to know that they are valued. They need to know their education is valuable because they are the future of this country. We need to stand with our public schools because the educators and administrators are the backbone of our economy. They are the conduit from generation to generation who ensure innovators are nurtured, scientists are encouraged, mechanics, electricians, and plumbers are at the forefront of technology, and our entrepreneurs flourish at any age.

Every student has the right to a quality education at a public school. Our education system raises up all our children by ensuring all schools are fully funded and not reliant upon parents supplementing school supplies and teachers reaching deep into their pockets to buy the tools, resources, and technology needed in their classrooms to provide a quality education.

Healthcare:Our system of healthcare is not serving our communities. Too many people are still accumulating bills they cannot pay or are not going to the doctor or dentist for checkups or preventive care because it is still too costly. We have a healthcare system that puts investing in and developing the latest technology before providing fundamental healthcare to our citizens. We need to rethink our priorities.

WE & US

I will help our communities move through the struggles and challenges we are facing onto a path that we will walk on toward a thriving world we create, develop, and build together.

Today, I am expanding my life’s purpose to be a catalyst for change. I will represent the people of Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District with integrity and compassion and work to earn your trust and vote.

This journey is not about me. This journey is one we will walk together to make our community stronger and our government accountable to the people.

Together we will keep each other accountable for our actions and the actions of those who represent us at all levels of government.
